House of the week # 4 – Emerson Farmhouse

One of my favourite sites is Emersonmade.  Emerson is a designer of the most amazing simple & stylish fashion, gorgeous accessories and sells them online.  Her husband Ryan is a photographer and they quite simply lead a charmed life. They moved from NY to this farmhouse in New Hampshire, USA. This house is my dream country home.

This farmhouse is fresh and inspiring. Pared back style with such individuality.

Practical & pretty live side by side in this home

Classic white on white exterior works so well and all those windows would let the sun stream into the house.

After 10 years in NYC they relocated to live & work in their 150 year old Victorian home that needed a full renovation.

Love the open shelving and those pendant lights are amazing.  Here is an exert from a feature for Nest Magazine about their approach to keeping their home organised.

The couple love collecting tons of found objects, art and housewares and easily could have filled up every crevice of their new home with stuff. But they developed a rule: Keep only what they need, and keep it in plain sight. No hidden junk. Then they gut renovated their new pad and designed every room with an open layout and minimal “hiding places” to make sure it stayed clutter-free.

This is an AMAZING pantry.  I have died and gone to organising heaven.  Imagine having this just off to the side of your kitchen.

The informal dining area with glass pendants that are similar to those found in the pantry.

Lovely display idea with groups of coloured books

The laundry has a pretty garland that adds colour and whimsy, monogrammed towels and a huge double sink.

Some more images of this home. Those lovely four posted beds below belonged to both Emerson’s grandmother & mother.  She has painted them yellow to give them a stunning new look.
